At Ponvo, we are committed to protecting your personal privacy and handling your personal data with care and transparency. This Privacy Policy explains what data we collect, why we collect it, how it is used, and what rights you have — regardless of where in the world you are located.
This policy applies to all users of our website and waitlist, including individuals located in the European Union (EU/EEA), the United Kingdom, the United States, Canada, Australia, Brazil, and other countries worldwide.
By using our website and/or signing up for our waitlist, you accept the terms of this policy.

What Data Do We Collect?
3.1 Waitlist sign-up via Mailchimp
When you sign up for our waitlist, we collect:
- Email address
This data is stored and processed by Mailchimp (Intuit Inc.), our email service provider. Your email address is collected solely for the purpose of notifying you when the Ponvo app launches.
3.2 Cookies and Tracking
Our website uses cookies and similar tracking technologies. We use Google Analytics to analyse how visitors use our website. This may involve the collection of anonymised information about your behaviour on the site, such as pages visited, time spent, and general location (country/region level).
The first time you visit our website, a cookie notice is displayed where you can accept or decline non-essential cookies. You can update your preferences at any time.
Why Do We Process Your Data?
We process your personal data for the following purposes:
- To notify you with a single email when the Ponvo app officially launches. By signing up to our waitlist, you consent to receiving this one-time launch notification. We will not use your email address for any other marketing or communication without first obtaining your separate consent. (Legal basis: consent)
- Analysing and improving our website (legal basis: consent to cookies)
We never process your data for purposes other than those stated above without informing you first. If we wish to send you further communications in the future — such as updates, newsletters, or offers — we will ask for your explicit consent at that time.
International Data Transfers
We use Mailchimp, a service provided by Intuit Inc., headquartered in the United States, to manage our email communications. This means your email address is transferred to and stored on servers in the USA.
5.1 EU/EEA and UK users
Mailchimp is certified under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework (DPF) and the UK Extension to the DPF. This ensures that transfers of personal data comply with GDPR and UK GDPR requirements. Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) are also incorporated as a supplementary safeguard.
5.2 Users in other countries
If you are located outside the EU/EEA or UK, your data may be transferred to and stored in the USA via Mailchimp. By signing up to our waitlist, you acknowledge and consent to this transfer. Mailchimp applies appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your data regardless of location.
You can read more about how Mailchimp handles personal data at: mailchimp.com/gdpr
How Long Do We Store Your Data?
We store your email address in Mailchimp until the Ponvo app has launched and the one-time launch notification email has been sent.
After the launch email has been sent, the following applies:
- If you have not provided separate consent to receive further communications, your email address will be permanently deleted from our systems within 30 days of the launch email being sent.
- If you have opted in to receive further communications from us, your email address will be retained only for those agreed purposes and for as long as that consent remains valid.
You may request removal from our waitlist at any time before the launch by contacting us at hello@useponvo.com. If you wish to have your data deleted entirely, we will handle your request within 30 days.
Your Rights
Depending on where you are located, you have various rights regarding your personal data. These include, but are not limited to:
- Right of access – request a copy of the data we hold about you
- Right to rectification – request that inaccurate or incomplete data be corrected
- Right to erasure – request that we delete your data (the "right to be forgotten")
- Right to restriction – request that we limit how we use your data
- Right to object – object to certain types of processing
- Right to data portability – receive your data in a structured, machine-readable format
- Right to withdraw consent – withdraw any consent you have given us at any time, without affecting the lawfulness of processing before withdrawal
To exercise any of these rights, please contact us at: hello@useponvo.com. We will respond within 30 days.
If you are located in the EU/EEA, you also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority (e.g. IMY in Sweden: www.imy.se). If you are in the UK, you may contact the ICO: www.ico.org.uk. Users in other regions may contact their relevant local authority.
Your Rights Based on Your Location
Privacy laws vary by country, but we are committed to respecting your rights regardless of where you are located. Depending on your country or region, you may have additional or specific rights under your local data protection laws — such as the CCPA/CPRA in California, PIPEDA in Canada, the Privacy Act in Australia, LGPD in Brazil, or the DPDPA in India, among others.
In all cases, we are committed to handling your data responsibly and in accordance with applicable laws. If you have questions about your specific rights under your local laws, or wish to exercise any of them, please contact us at hello@useponvo.com and we will do our best to assist you.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or applicable laws. The most recent version will always be published on our website. The date of the last update is indicated at the top of this page.
For significant changes, we will notify active waitlist members via email where required by applicable law.
